The new program we’ll be using this year for Grades 1-6 is aptly called Family Formation and comes with 30 years of experience and approval by the USCCB (the US Bishops). It offers these advantages:
For the family: materials for home are much easier to use and age range friendly.
For the classroom: there will be regular lessons and teaching rather than just review of what was done at home.
For our 2nd graders: there is a sacramental prep component for the classroom for 1st Reconciliation and Communion.
For our catechists: there are comprehensive materials provided to help with the monthly teaching that are easy to understand and follow. There will be optional training sessions for catechists along the way.
In addition there are some unique activities planned throughout the year centered on community and our Catholic identity.
