St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish is committed to evangelization and the ongoing formation of adults. Programs are offered throughout the year to continue to open participant's hearts, minds, and souls to Jesus Christ and to build up the Kingdom of God.
Bible studies and other adult education programs play an important role in the spirituality of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. Classes are offered throughout the year (typically in the fall and in the spring) to enhance personal faith development and community building. Please watch the bulletin for upcoming classes. In addition, ongoing opportunities are available for volunteers to facilitate discussion groups and instruct classes. Please contact Carole Yaney, Formation Director, if you are interested in assisting with parish adult education programs.
Groups of 6-14 people meet for six weeks to grow in faith and friendship. These groups are usually offered in the fall and in the spring and are available on a variety of days and times.
Welcome (formally Christ Renews His Parish) is an overnight retreat at the church in which men and women renew their faith through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. These retreats are a great way to grow in faith and fellowship with other parishioners. Those who have participated in a weekend truly become renewed and can’t wait to have someone else reap the same rewards.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops describes the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults as a process in which participants "undergo…conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the sacrament. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the Church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism."
Both adults and older children are invited to participate in the RCIA process. RCIA is a process of study, exploration, faith-sharing, and faith formation with individuals who seek to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Individuals who participate in the RCIA process include
Catechumens, who are adults and children seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation, and Candidates, who are adults and children already baptized in a Christian tradition and who are seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church through reception of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
